The Long distance walk E1 in the Westerwald
The European long distance walk E1 runs from Sweden down south to Italy and passes Germany from the north to the south. The Rhineland-Palatine part starts at Siegen and leads on a stretch of 190 km from Bad Marienburg and Montabaur to Hennethal.
With the European long distance walk E1 you come about Siershahn to Montabaur and walk further into the direction to Nassau.
Montabaur as a part of the E1
The European long distance walk E1, coming from Selters, enjoys great popularity and goes mainly through the countryside and woodland paths to Montabaur.
Famous are the basalt formations, the Westerwälder lowland plain full of lakes, our beautiful castle in Montabaur, the castle of Schaumburg at Balduinenstein, the remarkable barrows near Bonscheuer and castle of Hohlenfels at Hahnstätten.
